Our Story
Two people, one silver lab, and a whole lot of adventures.
Ben and Abbie met in the fall of 2020, right before their senior year at Southern Methodist University, and started dating soon after, right as Abbie left Dallas to begin physical therapy school at Duke University. For the next two years they made long distance work, with Ben making frequent pit stops in Durham as work carried him all over the country. Those visits quickly turned into camping trips, ski weekends, and beach vacations with friends and family. In the fall of 2024, Abbie returned to the DFW area, this time with a silly silver lab named Summer in tow, closing the long-distance chapter (and the dog-less one, too). After a year of “mini distance” between Fort Worth and Dallas, Abbie, Ben, and Summer finally moved in together in Dallas, where they’ve loved building a life surrounded by their closest friends.
In early 2026, Ben quietly began putting a plan together. He asked Greg for permission to marry Abbie during a Reichow family ski trip in Big Sky, on a run fittingly named “Ambush.” A few months later, when Abbie mentioned wanting to visit Big Bend National Park, Ben set the rest of the plan in motion. At sunrise, at the top of a hike in the Chisos Mountains overlooking the valley below, he got down on one knee, and Abbie, of course, said yes. They spent the rest of the weekend celebrating the way they love best: hiking, stargazing, campfires, card games, and a beautiful engagement shoot to round it all out.
When it came time to choose the perfect place to say “I do,” one destination rose above the rest. Abbie spent her childhood summers on Hilton Head Island and holds so many fond memories of coastal Carolina, including a trip where she got to share her love for the island with Ben. While touring venues, the Lowcountry beauty of Palmetto Bluff, with the live oaks and Spanish moss Abbie grew up adoring, became the clear and overwhelming choice. Abbie and Ben can’t wait to share this corner of the country, one that holds so much sentimental value to them, with all of you.
